Prudential Financial Announces Leadership Changes

New York-listed Prudential Financial has named Robert Falzon as executive vice president and chief financial officer, succeeding the retiring Rich Carbone and reporting to vice chairman Mark Grier, effective March 4.

The firm has also appointed Ken Tanji as a senior vice president and treasurer, reporting to Falzon. Meanwhile, John Hanrahan will return to the US to become senior vice president, chief administrative officer and CFO for the international businesses, while Shoichiro Ichitani succeeds Hanrahan as president of Prudential of Japan. Hanrahan and Ichitani will take up their new roles on April 1.

Carbone joined Prudential as CFO in July 1997 and was elected executive vice president in 2008. Although retiring from the CFO position, the firm said he has agreed to continue serving as an executive vice president. In this role, he will provide transitional support and strategic leadership on certain projects.

Falzon was appointed senior vice president and treasurer of Prudential in 2009. Tanji previously served as CFO for the company’s international businesses, while Hanrahan has served as president and CEO of the Prudential Life Insurance Company since January 2010. Ichitani is currently director, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Prudential of Japan.

Prudential Financial has some $1.060 trillion of assets under management, as at end- December 2012. The firm has operations in the US, Asia, Europe and Latin America.
